Shop Assistant – Equestrian / Pet

We are looking for someone to join our shop team who is friendly, dedicated and passionate about all things horses/pets!

About the Role

Main duties include:

  • Assisting customers with product queries
  • Creating product displays in the shop
  • Ensuring shelves and shop are neat and tidy
  • Putting out deliveries and checking delivery notes
  • Keeping shelves topped up with stock
  • Processing customer transactions on till system and taking payments
  • Working as part of a team with other departments within the shop

The role is FULL TIME – working 5 days in a weekly rota (includes weekend work). Working hours of the shop are: Monday – Saturday 08.30 – 17.30, Sunday: 10.00 – 16.30. Part Time would be considered.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Loves interacting with customers
  • Has attention to detail to ensure store standards are maintained and where possible strive to improve.
  • Has a willingness to learn about the product range to give advice to customers.
  • Physically fit – the role will include lifting heavy boxes/items and most of the day is spent on your feet.
  • Flexibility in fitting in with the shop’s rota – from time to time your ‘usual’ working week may need to change to provide cover for holidays, sickness etc.

Preferred: an interest and knowledge in either equestrian or pet as role will largely be supporting these departments.

Café Assistant – Part Time

Opportunity for a part-time café assistant role (including food prep). We are looking for someone energetic and engaging to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Food preparation
  • Making drinks (barista coffee – training will be given)
  • Taking customer orders and operating the till
  • Serving food and clearing tables
  • Washing up and cleaning
  • Opening and closing responsibilities

Includes some weekend work within a rota.

The business started distributing coal along the Great Western Railway, moving into animal feeds, garden and pet shops before opening the garden centre in 1983.
